I am only a new entrant to the riding scene and I'm lovin. The run the bays ride from Freyburg Pool - Miramar Pennisular - Brooklyn and back to Freyburg Pool is a great and very scenic ride enjoyable by all levels of rider except for teh road seal in most parts. I am looking for a way to get the Wellington City Council to ensure that the entire route has a 2m wide Tar Seal finish on the roadway to make the ride that much more enjoyable.
I don't know how much that would cost but I believe it would be an awesome addition to the City, and would help drivers see the 1.5m gap they should allow for cyclists.
Agree, I think it is a great idea.
I agree - it's about time the WCC stops looking after minor side roads with a nice smooth hot-mix surface and takes an interest in the very gateway into Wellington from the Airport and surrounding districts. Whether it is a proper cycle strip or the whole road - there certainly needs to be some consistency.
This is the result and an unfortunate increase in use of CHEAP "large chip seal surface coatings". These surfaces make the road very hazardous, hard on components and an increase of loose stone chips that will puncture tyres for more frequently than one would consider normal for cyclists.
