How cold is
it? Not cold enough to get out on your bike and go for a ride that is
for sure. Heaps of people in the forest yesterday enjoying the trials
on the last day of the long weekend.
Last Sunday saw the
first race of the Nature Valley NTrial Run Series happen at Summerhill
Recreation Farm on the hills behind Papamoa. Some great racing and
congratulations to all who competed, especially in the wet and wild weather
we had. Results
are up on the website.
Entries are open for
the first race of the Kiwibikes Winter MTB and Duathlon Series. Now
in its 7th year there are some great things happening this year. Enter
online now.

Tauranga, 24 May, Rotorua, 28 June,
Whakatane, 26 July, Rotorua, 27 September
Kawerau, 18 October
As we have said results are up
on the website and can be viewed
here. There were some fun courses with the rain making things
slippery later on in the piece. Trial shoes not road racing flats
were definitely beneficial. Next time we will have the fire going in
Race HQ to warm you all up! A big thanks to the Blakely's, the owners
of Summerhill and also Karl Young the manager for the help they gave us in
putting on the event. I think you will all agree that the venue is
awesome and the team at Summerhill would love to see you back exploring
some of the other tracks on the farm in the future.
Race 2 is in Rotorua
on 28 June and courses are being finalised this week. We would love
to see you there so Enter

Kiwibikes Winter MTB & Duathlon Series
2009

Race 1: Sunday, 14 June, Race 2: Sunday, 12
July,
Race 3: Sunday, 30 August
Entries are flowing
in the the Kiwibikes Winter MTB and Duathlon Series so stop procrastinating
and enter
now. Race 1 is also doubling as one of the final selection races for
the junior worlds team so come out and support the stars of tomorrow and
see how you measure up against them.
The course map for the mountain
bike courses has been posted
on the website. It takes in some classic tracks in the forest
with enough descending for you to enjoy. We are finalising the run
course for the duathlon option in the next couple of days and it will be up
on the website later this week. Should be flat though!
Word is the trails here are
riding really well. Just enough moisture to keep things nice and firm
with some great grip around the corners.

The Whaka 100 is back on 3
October with the opportunity for all your weekend warrior amatuer riders
out there to win a Gold GT Bike. Details of the promotion can be
found at the GT
is Golden website. And if you want to see the bike in the flesh
to see what is on offer call and see the team at BikeVegas who will allow
you to drool over it at a respectable distance!
Details for for everything will
be appearing on the website in the next week. However, entries are
open and the first entry has already been received from Australia. Looks
like there could be an invasion this year of Aussies to compete for the
gold GT as their opportunity went a couple of months back. Nothing
like a bit of Trans-Tasman rivalry to spark things up.
Entries for the
Whaka 100 are open now!
Friends of NDuro
We support a number of events around the Bay of Plenty area
and one that always attracts a great following is Monty's
Revenge based on Whakatane. With two options, the first being the
traditional multisport race involving a run, MTB and a kayak, and the
second being a duathlon that was introduced for the first time last year
and proved very popular. So, if you are looking for something to do
on the weekend of 20 June - the weekend after our first winter MTB Series
and before our second trail run - then head over the Whakatane for the
weekend. You will be promised a good event and 2009 is the 10th
anniversary as well.
Get out there and
enjoy the weather!
